This lens was produced by Tamron and is still made today. The short zoom may seem limiting, but keep in mind that each mm in this range means quite a bit. For example, the different between 17mm and 18mm is noticeable, where as 50 to 51 is not.
Nice image quality and inexpensive for its specs. Some complain of soft corners - personally, I do not think it is an issue.
